Inexco - Film and Sheet Extrusion

High Throughput Requires Controlled Melt Conditions

Challenges in Film and Sheet Extrusion

Film and sheet extrusion lines must combine high production rates with stable, uniform processing conditions.

As throughput increases, higher mechanical energy input can raise the melt temperature. At the same time, the forming process requires a homogeneous and repeatable thermal condition at the die inlet.

Particularly at high extrusion rates, precise melt temperature control can therefore become a critical factor for process stability and the available processing window.

CMX Approach

The CMX combines intensive melt homogenization with active melt cooling. The polymer melt is continuously split, redistributed, and recombined while heat is actively removed through temperature-controlled heat transfer surfaces.

This allows the melt to be conditioned to a defined thermal state before entering the extrusion die. By removing part of the additional thermal load generated at higher output rates, the CMX creates additional process headroom while maintaining the required melt conditions at the die inlet.

Key Benefits

  • Active melt cooling upstream of the extrusion die
  • Intensive thermal homogenization
  • Controlled, uniform melt conditions at the die inlet
  • Wider thermal processing window
  • Potential for higher extrusion rates
  • Scalable for different throughput requirements
  • Engineered for both new extrusion lines and retrofit applications
