Uniform Melt Conditions for Stable Fiber Spinning

Controlled Melt Conditions Before the Spin Pack

In fiber extrusion, consistent melt temperature and viscosity upstream of filtration, metering, and the spin pack are essential for stable spinning conditions.

Because polymer melt viscosity is highly temperature-dependent, thermal variations within the melt stream can create non-uniform rheological conditions at the spin pack. These variations can affect melt distribution through the spinneret, filament uniformity, and overall spinning stability.

At higher production rates, increased thermal load makes maintaining a homogeneous and reproducible melt condition before the spin pack even more important.

CMX Approach

The CMX combines intensive melt homogenization with active melt cooling to establish more uniform thermal conditions upstream of the spinning process.

Continuous splitting and redistribution of the melt helps equalize temperature differences across the melt stream. At the same time, excess heat can be actively removed to bring the melt closer to the required processing temperature before filtration, metering, and the spin pack.

This provides greater control over the temperature-dependent viscosity of the melt entering the spinning section, supporting more consistent conditions for melt distribution and filament formation.

The CMX installation position and configuration are engineered around the polymer, throughput, target melt temperature, pressure conditions, and fiber line configuration.
